1) We are messy.
We want our students to understand that making mistakes is a part of the spiritual journey and a part of our human nature. So rather than feeling that they need to keep a “clean” appearance or that they are “not good enough” to be a part of the church, we want to establish an open dialogue for students to share what they are struggling with in their lives. We hope that our students are able to approach our Kids Campus leaders to deal with their “messiness” in a healthy, God-center manner. We hope that addressing these issues allow students to grow in wisdom and maturity in their faith.
2) We are loved.
No matter how “messy” we may be, God will always love us for who we are. God has made each student in His image; therefore, each student is a special, unique creation to reflect God’s glory. He cares deeply for us and there is nothing we can do to make God love us less. In a world of social media and cultural pressure, we hope they will reflect on the everlasting love of God.
3) We are called.
In 1 Samuel 17, David believed he was called to defeat Goliath and to help the Israelites win the battle against the Philistines. The people around him scoffed at his weapon and his size, but David proved he was better equipped than they had thought! This same idea applies to our students. Though our students may be “small”, we believe they can make a BIG impact on the world by using their God-given talents and abilities. We hope to foster an environment where students can practice and develop their gifts so that they may go into the world to share the love of Christ.
